I've filled in all the slots with black epoxy. This took quite a while. I had slow setting epoxy that was supposed to take 90 minutes to set. Still, it starts getting more viscous within just a couple minutes of mixing. So I discovered that for it to be fluid enough to seep down into the slots easily, I had to mix a little bit at a time, use it to fill in three of four frets and repeat. I definitely erred on the side of too much epoxy to make sure everything was filled in. So it's ugly looking, but it's all getting sanded down later anyway.
