The technique for defretting a guitar is pretty simple. You use the soldering iron to carefully heat each fret. That loosens the glue that's holding it in place. While it's hot and the glue is soft, you use the pliers to pinch underneath the fret and work it out of the slot. I couldn't really photograph that since holding the soldering iron and pliers didn't leave me with a free hand for the camera.
